Creating homeownership
Homeownership is one of the best ways to build wealth. Self-Help has developed several products that open the door to homeownership for people with modest incomes.
Advocates of social change
We conduct research and work with local, state and federal lawmakers to stop abusive financial practices that harm and prevent individuals and families from building wealth.
Empowering low-wealth communities
Self-Help partners with communities that have experienced disinvestment to build and renovate commercial real estate, develop affordable housing and lend to small businesses to cultivate opportunity, stability and wealth.
Member-owned. Member-focused. Member-driven.
Members are owners of the credit union and benefit from profits in the form of lower rates and higher dividends. We focus on providing responsible products and services to support our members and their financial goals in building wealth and security.
Helping members build strong financial futures
We provide free financial capability coaching to our members to help create the strongest foundation for their future wealth and wellbeing. This includes individualized plans to improve their credit scores, pay down debt, qualify for home or auto loans and meet other financial goals.
Investing in sustainability
The effects of climate change and pollution typically hit hardest on those with the least financial capacity. We invest in organizations and entrepreneurs that create sustainable development in communities historically overlooked by the environmental movement.
Inclusive Service
We believe that everyone deserves access to fair and responsible financial services, and we've made it our mission to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all, especially people of color, women, rural residents and low-wealth families and communities.
Promoting wealth and prosperity for all
Our country can't truly thrive until everyone has access to wealth and prosperity. We aim to work with communities, especially those who have faced structural barriers and exclusion, to make owning a home or starting a business accessible to everyone.
Our members' financial health is our bottom line
We know that when everyone has their essential needs met, they can expand their potential and create vibrant and flourishing communities. Through responsible products and services, initiatives to expand access to wealth, and financial literacy efforts, we work with our members to strengthen their financial foundations so they can build wealth for future generations.
Providing fair and affordable financial products
Because we want each of our members' financial journey to be a success, we strive to provide products that meet their needs in a fair and equitable way.
