Why a bicycle?

At Self-Help, we use the model of a bicycle to describe how we work. The front wheel that steers our work is our mission. The back wheel that powers our work is our financial sustainability. Our other core values are critical to our work as well.

For that reason, we maintain both a minimum salary floor for our staff, to help them meet their basic needs and save for the future, as well as a maximum salary cap.
